Savage 1920 bolt rifle 300 sav Lyman bolt peep NR

This was the first commercially made bolt action sporting rifle by a major manufacturer. This particular rifle also has a factory Lyman bolt peep sight. These Savage 1920 rifles had an action that was more or less a copy of the Springfield 1903. The Savage 1920 was made from 1920 to 1929. The so called “improved” version debuted in 1926, which featured a Lyman 54 bolt peep (same as this rifle) and the gun was “heavier”, as per the Standard Catalog of Firearms. This rifle does not have dovetail slot in barrel for a rear “barrel” sight, so I believe this rifle to be the 1926 “improved” version, which was thus only made 1926 to 1929. SN – 10593.
